United Confederate Veterans Reunion of 1911
August 5, 2011
100 years ago today, the biggest drawing moving picture in Ada Oklahoma was a film documenting the Confederate reunion in Little Rock earlier that year.
According to the Ada Evening News the screening was “a gathering of flower and elite of Ada society.” This is interesting to note, given the beleaguered status of the cinema in 1911. One wonders if the attendees that night were regular cinema-goers, or whether they were enticed by the promise of this special feature.
